Stowe and Waterbury

Located in the heart of northern Vermont, and nestled in the Green Mountains, Waterbury and Stowe are among some of the most picturesque towns in the area.

Stowe

Stowe is an iconic town, sitting at the eastern base of Mount Mansfield. A famous 4 season destination, Stowe hosts an abundance of recreation, entertainment, restaurants and festivals. Stowe is home to a handful of high end resorts and spas, as well as many smaller hotels and bed and breakfasts. In addition to the various outdoor recreation, the town also offers plenty of indoor activities such as a movie theater, bowling alley, mini golf course, ski and snowbaord museum, and lots of shopping.

Stowe Mountain Resort is located in the northern part of the town, bordering Cambridge. The resort offers some of Vermonts best skiing and riding in the winter, and there's a scenic 18 hole golf course in the summer. A gondola offers access up Mount Mansfield in the winter, summer and early fall. The Village at Spruce Peak, a quaint collection of buildings next to the Lodge at Spruce Peak, has multiple amenities including indoor rock climbing and an outdoor ice-skating rink.

The Notch is a mountain pass that connects Stowe and Cambridge and is only open in late spring into early fall, when there is no snowfall. Additional hiking and some bouldering can be enjoyed off the Notch during the summer. The Stowe Bike path is a popular destination for both residents and visitors. The Long Trail and the Lamoille River run through Stowe.

Waterbury

Waterbury is known as "the crossroads of Vermont", as it sits along I89 and Route 2 and is known for being a very central location. The town is situated almost an equal 30 minutes to Burlington, Montpelier, Stowe Mountain Resort and Sugarbush Resort. Though a small town, Waterbury is a very bustling place to be, with lots of restaruants, some small shops, banks and other services for both residents and visitors. Local town businesses are known for hosting an abundance of events all year, including small music shows, private parties and pop up food and beverage events.

Waterbury is home to many famous Vermont businesses including the Ben and Jerry's factory, Cold Hollow Cider Mill, Prohibition Pig and Hen of the Wood Restaurant. Vermont owned factories such Darn Tough Socks has a production location in Waterbury. The town boasts plenty of outdoor recreation during all four seasons including snowshoeing, hiking, swimming, boating, disc golf and more. The Waterbury Reservoir is a 90 acre peninsula with a swimming beach, multiple boat launch areas, picnic tables, charcoal grills, 27 remote paddle-to campsites, and a nature trail. Hunger Mountain borders Waterbury and Stowe and is a favorite hike for many during the summer months.

Waterbury hosts a variety of housing options including apartment buildings, condo developments, single family homes and duplexes and some older, more historic homes throughout the town. With a charming historic downtown, plenty of entertainment and amenities, and a beautiful landscape surrounding the town, Waterbury is a very popular place to live and visit.

Waterbury is home to the Country Club of Vermont, an 18 hole golf course with clubhouse that can be rented for private events. Center Chains disc golf course is located in Waterbury center, and is a destination many enthusiasts visit from near and far. A seasonal farmers market is held during the summer and early fall months near the downtown area of Waterbury. With the abundance of acitivites, amenities and the central location, it's no surprise that Waterbury continues to be a destination for Vermont locals and travelers.
