Fairfax / Milton / Georgia
Located in southern Franklin County, Fairfax and Georgia are quaint towns, situated close to I89. Milton neighbors Fairfax and Georgia, and is in the northeast corner of Chittenden County.
Tucked away in the southeast corner of Franklin County, the town of Fairfax enjoys both suburban and country living. The town offers a variety of housing options. There are newer neighborhoods and a handful of condo neighborhoods. Some older, historic homes and brand new homes can be found throughout the town, on private properties. Fairfax features some dairy farms and some maple producers. Due to the close proximity to I89, Burlington, Essex Town and Saint Albans, Fairfax is a popular option for people to live.
Fairfax has lots of outdoor recreation available. From floating and swimming in the Lamoille River that runs through the town, to walking on the many trails throughout the town. Smugglers Notch Resort is located in the neighboring town of Cambridge, and has skiing and snowboarding in the winter, and hiking and a waterpark in the summer. A Disc Golf Course and a Ropes Course is located just outside Smugglers Notch.
Milton is located in the north west corner of Chittenden County and Lake Champlain borders the town to the left. The town offers an abundance of amenities including grocery stores, hardware stores, banks and other services. Milton is also filled with lots of outdoor recreation. The popular Eagle Mountain overlooks Lake Champlain and is a short and moderately easy hike which showcases seasonal lake views from the view point area. The Milton Town Forest is comprised of 6 miles of trails surrounding Milton Pond, a 33 acre body of water which was Miltons old reservoir.
Arrowhead Mountain Lake is situated in the northern part of Milton, and some of the shore and water crosses over to the northeast, into the neighboring town of Fairfax. The lake offers kayaking, canoeing and swimming in the summer months. There are a combination of seasonal and year-round homes along the shores of Arrowhead Mountain Lake. *The quaint Lake does enforce some waterbody restrictions to preserve the peace and beauty. Bombardier Park is a large, multi-section park that offers lots of outdoor recreation to both visitors and residents. The park features tennis courts, picnic tables, playgrounds, baseball and softball fields, a pond, soccer fields, a pavilion, restrooms and trails.
Milton is the gateway to the Champlain Islands, and as you travel down Route 2 toward South Hero, you'll pass the popular Sand Bar, a 2000 foot sandy beach offering picnic areas, playgrounds, restroom facilities and plenty of places to swim.
Georgia is located in southern Franklin county, neighboring Saint Albans to the north and the shores of Lake Champlain run along the west. The town is mainly comprised of single family homes, farms, lakefront properties and some small condo developments. Conveniently located right off I89, this town makes for an easy place to commute from to either direction.
Georgia Beach allows residents and visitors access to Lake Champlain in the summer, and Arrowhead Mountain Lake crosses over into Georgia. More outdoor recreation can be found in the neighboring towns of Saint Albans, Fairfax and Milton. Georgia has its own little market, and much of the town is not developed, allowing for lots of scenic country views to enjoy.
